President & Owner of Asset Protection Group, Inc (AP Group)
Monty has been in the insurance business for over 30 years. After graduating from the University of Georgia in 1989, he became one of the founders of Virginia Financial Associates, Inc. (VFA), and later created Asset Protection Group (AP Group) as a subsidiary of VFA in 1995. AP Group became a separate entity in 2002, and Monty became the sole owner. In the course of his career, Monty has served as the President of the Independent Insurance Agents of Richmond (IIAR), served as the Chairman of the Board of the Independent Insurance Agents of Virginia (IIAV), Virginia’s oldest and largest association of insurance agents. Monty currently sits on IIAV’s for profit Board known as the Virginia Financial Services Corporation “VFSC” and is active in the legislative process with IIAV and other associations. Monty also served on the board of Governor Kaine’s Access to Healthcare Committee. In August of 2010, Monty was honored to be personally chosen as one of 24 Virginian leaders on Governor McDonnell’s Virginia Health Reform Initiative Advisory Council, along with chairing multiple sub-committees. He considers himself privileged to take part in advancing the VHRI vision that “Virginia should aspire to have the healthiest individuals, the healthiest communities, the best health care system and the strongest economy in the nation”. In 2011, Monty was awarded the Golden Eagle Insurance Agent of the Year award by the IIAV. Monty currently sits on the Agent Advisory council for Fortress Insurance Company. In years past he served on Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield’s advisory Board. In July of 2016, Monty was appointed as Director-at-large of the Virginia Association of Health Underwriters “VAHU”. In August 2016, Monty was appointed as a member of the UnitedHealthcare’s Small Business Advisory Council. He also works closely with the Virginia Society of Association Executives “VSAE” whereby AP Group is the endorsed health insurance benefits provider for VSAE and many of its sub-chapter associations. As a lifelong Richmond native, in his free time, Monty enjoys being active, playing guitar, racquet sports, golf, cards, spending time at the beach and being with his family, friends, and dog Brandy.

Jennifer began her insurance career 25 years ago when she joined the field office for a national malpractice insurance carrier. She graduated Cum Laude from Averett University with a Bachelor in Business Administration degree. She has been working at Asset Protection Group since 2003 and holds the designation of Accredited Advisor in Insurance. She is licensed for both Property & Casualty and Life & Health. She is married and has three children and a dog. In her free time, she enjoys watching her children’s various sporting activities, reading, and shopping for shoes.

Teri is a graduate of Marist College and has been in the insurance business for roughly 20 years. Prior to joining AP Group, Teri worked for Curi, a.k.a., Medical Mutual Insurance of North Carolina and their sister firm Sentinel Risk Advisors where her primary role was to ensure that medical and dental practices received top notch service for their commercial property & liability needs including professional liability and other practice-based insurance policies. Teri is licensed for Property & Casualty and Life & Health insurance and holds both a Certified Insurance Counselor "CIC" and a Certified Insurance Representative "CIR" designation. Teri is married and enjoys spending time with her children, grandchildren, reading and supporting the United States Coast Guard.

Teresa graduated from Radford University and shortly after began a 17-year career in the insurance field. Holding several sales positions within the organization allowed Teresa to gain a well-rounded insurance background. From there, Teresa spent 15+ years with a local financial institution as its Chief Lending Officer. Teresa is a proud native of Richmond. She has one grown daughter and enjoys live music, college sports, spending time outdoors and traveling.

Kim has been with AP Group since its inception and takes pride in serving our Life & Health clients. Before coming to AP Group, Kim worked at the Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC). She began her career at the SCC as an intern while attending Virginia Commonwealth University. Upon completing her education she was offered a staff accountant/auditor position in the Division of Accounting and Finance. Over the next several years, she was promoted to Senior Auditor and then again promoted to the position of Audit Supervisor for all of the Telecommunication Utilities in Virginia. Kim is a native of Richmond. She is married and has two daughters and one stepson. She also has two granddaughters, one grandson and two granddogs. In her spare time, Kim enjoys volunteering at her church, playing with her grandchildren, traveling, reading and singing.

New to Virginia - but not new to the insurance industry, Beth joins AP Group with more than ten years of insurance experience. She holds licenses for Life & Health, is Medicare Certified, and holds a Property & Casualty license. Originally from California, Beth and her husband of 28 years recently moved to Virginia to be close to family. She has two grown children, Tyler and Hannah. Beth enjoys reading, walking the beautiful parks of Virginia, and spending time with her family and her Bichon - Bella.
Before coming to Richmond, Wayne was assistant director of rates and regulation for American water works. He was responsible for all the financial filings with state regulatory agencies for the operating companies located throughout the southeast. Wayne began his career in Richmond working as the chief financial officer for a municipal bond brokerage firm. After the firm was sold, he became an independent consultant specializing in tax-exempt securities. Over the last 20 years, he has acted as a financial advisor and also as an investment advisor on numerous municipal bond financings throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Wayne holds degrees in accounting and finance from West Virginia state university and attended West Virginia university’s college of graduate studies. He is an associate member of the West Virginia society of certified public accountants. Wayne is a U.S. Army veteran having served 3 years with the 75th ranger regiment. He enjoys reading, the beach and playing golf.
Hilary is delighted to be the Office Coordinator, ensuring maximum efficiency, supporting the executive managers and AP Group daily operations. Before moving to Richmond, Hilary worked at Aflac as a Market Coordinator in San Francisco for 2 years. She was promoted to a Market Asset Analyst for San Francisco, Las Vegas, Honolulu, and finally Columbus, Ohio markets for a total of 4 years. She served on the Aflac National Leadership Council for 2 years. In her free time Hilary enjoys spending time with her family, baking and playing with her dog, Charlie.
